A Japanese kindergarten teacher named Atsuko Sato (known online as kabosumama) adopted a Shiba Inu rescue dog named Kabosu.
She posted a photo of Kabosu sitting on a couch, eyebrows raised, with that iconic sideways glance.
The internet would never be the same.
2013: "Such Wow" Goes Viral
Kabosu's photo became the Doge meme â plastered across Reddit in Comic Sans with broken English captions. "Such wow." "Much crypto." "Very moon."
"wow. such coin. very blockchain. much hodl."
In December 2013, Dogecoin launched, using Kabosu as its face. It became one of the biggest memecoins ever made â worth billions.
Kabosumama Becomes a Legend
Atsuko (kabosumama) became a beloved figure in the crypto and meme community. She documented Kabosu's life â the good days and the hard ones.
In May 2024, Kabosu passed away peacefully. The entire internet mourned.

July 26, 2026: A Cat Enters the Chat
Out of nowhere, kabosumama posted an Instagram Story. She had adopted a new cat.
